02J TRANNY - (Tranny code EHA)

Despite having previously stated that Shocky was getting an 020…..the plan has now changed since the AWP engine that was acquired came with an 02J tranny out of a 2003 Jetta.  This time I chose to use a Quaife instead of a Peloquin perhaps for a more well rounded experience.  The tranny had only 8k on it when it came into my possession...however, despite the low mileage, it arrived coated in corrosion, grease, dirt, grime...et al.  Even with just 8,000 miles on it, 2nd gear was toast and reverse gear had issues as well.

So, Dan and I embarked on what would be a new experience for both of us....an 02J Tranny disassembly, Quaife install, and reassembly with a new 2nd gear.  To make things fun, the paper version of the Bentley (as opposed to the CD version, which at the time was on backorder) decided that for whatever reason the only thing that people would care about having info on was the "external service" items and removal and installation.  Fortunately, we had ETKA and also info on the 02A's internals...and so we forged ahead!  On a side note, Bentley publishing came to their senses with the CD version and it includes ALL pertinent info on the 02J tranny.
